Hey I know he isn't on the FA list, but he is indeed a player in the NBA. So can I make an offer:
4year contract worth $5million with the 1st year using the league minimum and the 4th being a team option.
year1: $500,000 year2: $1,000,000 year3: $1,5000,000 year4: $2,000,000 (Team Option)

According to your salary chart, you don't have enough cap room (actually no cap room) to sign Matthews. So Matthews is up to free bid again.

Now your exceeding another limit, this rule: * The maximum amount that a contract can increase or decrease each year is by 11% of the previous year in the contract or $500,000. Whichever is higher. From 1st year to 2nd year it is too big difference.

To be fair, Detroit's offer is right now better (the new fixed one). You can still improve your offer.

New Orleans would like to offer Mr. Matthews:
year1: $500,000 year2: $1,000,000 year3: $1,500,000 year4: $2,000,000
Total: 5 Mil
BTW I thought there were no TO/PO's allowed during the regular season free agency. (9th bullet in the free agency thread)
Also, we will release Fabricio Oberto $3,500,000 if we win the bid on Mr. Matthews.

That's correct. Right now I would say New Orleans is the leading the bid as his bid has guaranteed money for the last year (I counted the Detroit's offer legit to compare, just for now).

damn it, i absolutely resent the fact that I have a fight to sign a guy that I scouted first. Oh Well.
Must we do this again Utah?
Well lets put it like this: Detroit intends on starting to rebuild. We have better players in KG, John Salmons (yes) & young stars like Kevin Love. We dont intend on re-signing Ray Allen which opens up minutes in the Guard position. New Orleans & Utah have superstar(& I MEAN SUPERSTAR) players at both the PG & SG position which only means VERY limited minutes for Mr Matthews.
Furthermore, the Pistions has the 2010 PORTALND 1st rounder. Considering they are one of the lowest seeded teams that pick is probably a lock on for the top 3 (think John Wall, Derrick Favors, Evan Turner). It's obvious that this team is a better fit right now and long term. We dont have the cap space now, but with >20million freed up in space next season, we intend to boost the strong team we already have and its insane just thinking about it.
So with all that in mind, we offer Mr Matthews a 4yr contract worth $5million.
year1: $500,000 year2: $1,000,000 year3: $1,500,000 year4: $2,000,000
I have said my piece, stated my case and it's up to Matthews which team he wants to be in.

Sorry, Detroit, but I have to stick to the rules:
* An offer must stand as the highest bid for 48(later 24) hours before it is accepted. An offer is the high bid if it contains the highest TOTAL dollar amount over the life of the contract.

Claimed by Utah, but he won't be available for the next couple of sims, as I have to create him (and someone else I don't remember) and right now he isn't a priority. But I'll promise that he'll be available for the playoffs the altest.
